Well, the holiday snack trap is in full swing, a nibble of this, a taste of that..before we know we’re disgusted with our fat selves..LOL!
So just do what I do..live in denial!
Create a one bite version of a 1,200 calorie appetizer and convince yourself that because they’re tiny..they are calorie free!
Then proceed to gobble up 45 of them..ugh! 😉
Having just one of these crispy little beauties is not humanly possible, so make sure and prepare tons of them!
The super sweet flavor of the tiny onions make for a scrumptious little bite..not to mention tons of Ooo’s and Ahh’s!
Give these a try at your next dinner party or football game!
What you’ll need:
All purpose flour
2 cups milk
2 cups milk
2 eggs
Canola oil
Canola oil
Cumin
Directions:
Slice the onions by cutting a tiny bit off of the stem end. Gently peel the skin from the tiny onions, and place on a cutting board with the cut side down.
To slice into a “Bloom”, use your finger as a guide by placing it at the root of the onion, then slice straight down from your thumb to the bottom. Repeat those cuts all the way around the onion. Carefully separate, and open up the petals and place in some cold water, while you slice up the rest.
Prepare your wet batter in a bowl by combining the:
Eggs
Prepare your dry batter in a bowl by combining the:
Flour
All the seasonings
Dip the cut onions into the dry batter, then into the wet batter and back into the dry again..making sure that every part, inside and out of the onion is coated.
Heat the Canola oil in a medium pot and start frying them up! Drain them on paper towels and salt when warm!
