So in my house, no matter what, I always end up with leftover Cranberry Sauce. Either Auntie brought over way too much of her “famous” recipe, or one too many cans were purchased. Either way…we have Cranberry Sauce for days! Or at the very least, an extra can of it in the pantry getting dustier by the day~
I decided to put it to good use and do what came naturally for me…No, I didn’t fry t..lol! I caked it!
Yep, I swirled it into thick, moist cake batter, baked it up and then slathered it with glaze & holiday sprinkles. Now we have the perfect “day after” sweet treat!!
You can even bake up the Cake, and freeze it until Christmas..one less thing to worry about on the big day! Just re-heat it or serve it room temp, glaze & sprinkle it up right before serving..BOOM! 🙂
~And guesss what?? NO MORE Cranberry Sauce collecting dust! 😉
What you’ll need:
1 box of White Cake Mix…or any you have!
1 cup of Cranberry Sauce..ANY variety will work!
Christmas Sprinkles…as many as you like!
9×13 baking pan…sprayed!
The Glaze:
1 cup Powdered Sugar
a few drops of Milk or Cream
Directions:
Mix up the cake batter according to the box instructions…
Pour the batter into the baking pan…
Add in scoops of the Cranberry Sauce…
…and swirl it all pretty-like…
Bake it at 350 for approx. 25 minutes..or until it’s cooked all the way through.
Let it cool a bit…
Grab a chop-stick, fork, knife…or finger and poke some holes into it, or as I like to call them “flavor chambers”…
Drizzle that glaze all over it…
NOW~~ SPRINKLE IT!
Let it set up for a couple of minutes…if you can…
NOW Serve it up…
Add some more glaze to yours, because you deserve it…
DIG IN! ~Enjoy! 🙂
