Okay~ I’ll admit this right off the bat, the inspiration for this recipe was simply that I’ve always wanted to play with fire in the kitchen and I was just waiting for the courage (and recipe worth potentially burning my house down) to do it. And so, here we are! 🙂
Now, that being said, I have to also admit that I chose the very best recipe to make it happen! Ohhh,,,it’s true!
Yep~ I’ve taken Bananas Foster and I’ve done what I do best, I deep fried it. Wait, don’t go…this process turned what was a typically delicious dessert into an over-the-top, decadent delight that will have everyone obsessed with it…and with you too…lol!
Now if your local fire department has delicious looking firemen like mine does, go ahead and blame me for any mishaps. 😉
Could these be any better? ..really???
I’m talking about a tender, sweet, banana all wrapped up inside a light and crispy HOT shell of buttery, boozy, flame engulfed greatness!
These are beyond any dessert you’ve ever had and trust me when I say…. DO IT!
~Make LOTS!
What you’ll need for 6 flamin’ Fosters:
3 med/lg. bananas
6 large egg roll wrappers
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 egg mixed with a splash of water…egg wash
1/2 cup dark OR light Rum
Ice Cream for serving
A lighter
oil for frying..I used canola
Fire prep…just in case!
Directions:
Slice each banana in half lengthwise, and place each half inside a wrapper and roll it up diagonally…
Seal the edges with some of the egg wash…
fry them in the hot oil (350 degrees) until they’re evenly golden…
Now in a medium pan add in the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon..
..let it melt and combine well…
Gently add in the fried bananas…
And coat them very well in the sauce…
TURN OFF YOUR FLAME/HEAT! HAVE A LARGE SHEET PAN HANDY!
And pour that booze all over the sauced up fried bananas…
Being super safe, light up that pan. The flames will stay contained in the pan until they go out on their own. If the bananas are getting too dark, simply cover the pan with the sheet pan to put out the flames.
Remove the boozy bananas and reserve that glorious pan sauce! Let them cool just a bit…
Grab a plate and load it up…
And start scooping’ that ice cream! And sauce it up with some of that boozy pan sauce…
Then share with those you love LOTS!
Like you! ~Enjoy! 🙂
These are so delicious! A good way to use up your wrappers when making spring rolls.. They are great plain too!
OH my God that looks amazing!!! I am so going to make these!!
