Oh Geez, thank God I never promised you all a fat free food blog..lol! This is just too much fun! The Super Bowl is right around the corner, and there are so many great recipes just waiting for their turn to be the MVP at your house! But how about just serving some good old bacon? This bacon doesn’t need to be on a sandwich, or in a dip! It stands alone and needs nothing else at all. Simply pile some on a plate and it will be the first snack to disappear! 🙂
When the idea for this beer glaze popped into my head, I just knew its first pairing would be with bacon..duh! 😉 And what better place for it to make its debut, than during the big game?!
I will publish a separate post for the Beer Glaze, because it has many uses and deserves it’s own page! But you can find the quick method below! 😉
This isn’t just your regular glaze, this is beyond tasty and totally ‘out of this world’! This glaze is thick, smooth, rich in flavor and has a sweet hint to balance out all that amazing beer flavor!
As if that’s not enough, it gets painted onto bacon, creating a glossy shell of indescribable taste & texture!
Just make this as soon as you can..and make LOTS! 🙂
What you’ll need:
Bacon..and lots of it!
For the glaze: makes about a cup of glaze! Enough for lots of bacon, but you can easily double it if necessary! 🙂
1 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
1 Bottle of good Dark Beer!
1 tbsp. Corn Starch
Directions:
Place the bacon on a rack over a sheet pan and start baking it in the oven at 350 degrees
While that is baking, simmer the brown sugar and beer in a medium sauce pot for about 20 minutes..stirring regularly
When it’s reduced by half..stir in the Corn Starch, blending well so all the lumps are gone
Return to a boil for one minute..when it’s thick, take it off the heat and set aside.
Remove the par cooked bacon from the oven and start to baste it with the glaze..baste about every 5 minutes, until the bacon is cooked, glossy and crisp.
Take it out of the oven and let it cool..
Crunch into a bite and you won’t believe your mouth! ~Enjoy! 🙂

So you’ve really created meat candy. Every guy I know will love this one. 🙂
@Chris..THANK YOU SO MUCH!! That is just awesome, I’m so glad that you enjoy all my “naughty” recipes..LOL!! Thanks for the honor..I love your blog as well! 🙂
@Mom Chef..Yep, it’s guy grub for sure, us girls can sneak a few bites, and no one ever has to know! 😉
hell yeah! That’s rowdy!
Oh my, that is dangerous!
This is going to be our weekend project as soon as the weather turns cooler here!
I think it’s hilarious “good” was emphasized in bold in “good Dark Beer” and the picture shows a bottle of Michelob Amber Bock.
I didn’t post just to be a “beer snob” though. I think a porter will work best for this because of it’s sweetness. Stone Smoked Porter would be my first choice, or else Founder’s Porter.
I just added this blog to my rss reader, great stuff. Can not get enough!
