So, what do you do when you have about 9 people over, and they ALL want sandwiches…with no warning! Like all of a sudden..BOOM~everyone wants sandwiches, and who do you think they asked? >>>yep….me! 🙂
Well… I wasn’t about to stand there and fuss over roughly 18 custom sandwiches, because all my peeps eat at least 2 each! I mean, come on…I want to relax too, I have feelings, I’m a person..lol! AND// I don’t see anyone making me a sandwich, so I had the right to get creative..right?! …RIGHT! 🙂
And that’s just what I did! I simply made one GIANT, universally loved Ham & Cheese Sandwich. I let the oven do all of the work for me, and fed those starving sandwich lovers within like 15 minutes! Ahh..WINNING! <<yeah, I still say it..haha! 🙂
This Ham & Cheese Slab Pie is actually SO incredible and simple. Thick slabs of Ham are lovingly ‘Cheese-glued’ to the most buttery, and flaky Crescent dough! And, I’m talking about LOTS of Cheese-Glue…you must do this, even if it’s just for you..lol! You will LOVE it!
What you’ll need:
2 containers of Pillsbury Crescent Seamless Dough Sheet…OR regular Crescent dough will work! Just pinch the seams together!
1 lb. of sliced Ham..or more!
1 lb. sliced Cheese..or more!
Toasted/or raw Sesame Seeds
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 egg mixed with a splash of water for egg wash
one 9×13 sheet pan
non-stick spray
Directions:
Roll out each dough sheet to fit the pan. Place it in the pan, and gently stretch the edges to fit.
Start layering, cheese first…a.k.a. the glue…
Now, an even layer of the Ham, and then another layer of um..CHEESE!
Press the edges down with a fork, just to sort of seal it and make it prettyful…
Carefully slice shallow slices into the top of the dough, so the steam can escape…you can make custom designs if you prefer..lol
Brush the whole shebang with some egg wash…
Annnd, a nice, generous amount of Sesame Seeds, and salt and pepper if you’d like…
Bake it up at 350 degrees for approx. 15 minutes, or until the top is a nice golden color and the cheese is super cheesy!
Let it cool just a bit, so you can slice it without a disaster…
Now, you can safely slice it up…
And serve it to whomever you love lots….
Like really love LOTS…
OR..just keep it all for you!
~Enjoy! 🙂
I used same ingredients but roll the ham and cheese inside the crescent dough. I guess you could call it a ham and cheese roll.
