Mmm! |
? First of all..I’m confused as to the “Fillo” or “Phyllo” spelling, so I went with the way it’s spelled on the package. 🙂
Now, onto the good stuff!
Mac-n-cheese has just been taken to another level, maybe even 2 levels! The crispy and flaky layers of Fillo Dough, hug the richest and creamiest Mac-n-Cheese you’ve ever tasted! This is great for the kids, or to entertain even the snootiest of guests! They’re that good!!
What you’ll need for approx. 8 cups:
1 Pkg. of Fillo Dough (about 8 sheets)
1 Box of Mac-n-Cheese
1/2 lb of CRISP and CRUMBLED Bacon
1 cup of Shredded Cheddar
1/4 cup Shredded Parmesan
1 Egg
1/4 of a block of Cream Cheese
1/8 tsp. of Ground Mustard
S&P to taste
Directions:
Prepare the Mac-n-Cheese according to the box instructions (or make it from scratch..but whhy?!)
Spray a cupcake pan with non-stick spray.
Layer 4 sheets of the Fillo Dough, spraying in between each layer with cooking spray (I use the butter spray)
?
Cut the dough into squares, big enough to fill the cupcake holes, leaving the edges of the squares kind of hanging over the top.
When the Mac-n-Cheese is prepared, stir in the Shredded Cheddar, 3/4 of the Crumbled Bacon, Cream Cheese, Mustard Powder, S&P, and the egg..mix well!
Fill each dough cup with the Mac-n-Cheese mixture, and fold over any edges of the dough!

Flaky & Cheesy! |
Top them with the Parmesan Cheese, the rest of the crumbled bacon and any leftover Cheddar, if you have some.
Bake at 350 degrees for approx 30 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy!
Serve warm ~Enjoy!
*HINT* In a spicy mood? Just add a pinch of Cayenne..OR a diced jalapeno, some chopped Green Chile and/or Pepper Jack Cheese!
Way big yum! These little cups look amazing. I'd say that they would provide good portion control, but I'd just eat several so it shoots that down.
Regarding phyllo or fillo, it depends on where you live. Fillo (or filo) is a western adaptation of phyllo, which is the original Greek and is used in the Mid-East and eastern countries.
Thank you..and yes, eating several does throw portion control out the window, luckily they're tiny so therefore, almost calorie free..haha!!
Very interesting on the spelling, that's good to know, thank-you! 🙂
