So, somehow I ended up with a bottle of Magic Shell. I have no idea how because not only is Ice Cream pretty much my last choice for a treat, but Magic Shell has never really appealed to me! I know how weird that sounds, especially because Magic Shell is all the rage right now, but it’s true. I’m more of a wet, drippy fudge saucy type of girl. If I wanna crack through something, it better be a Potato Chip darn it..LOL! 🙂
HOWEVER…I needed to make a batch of cookies, and I was totally bored with the average, everyday “cookie-cutter” cookie! I wanted something adorable, unique and never seen before. Well, that lonely bottle of Magic Shell in my pantry was the answer! These deceptively, adorable Sundae Cookie scoops were a huge hit, and couldn’t be easier or more fun to make!
The kids literally lost their minds when they found out that these weren’t mini scoops of ice cream. I even served them with little spoons..just to be even more sneaky! Not only are these Ice Cream Sundae fake-outs adorable, but they’re one of the best tasting cookies EVER!
This perfect ‘hold its shape’ cookie dough turns into the sweetest, most tender, almost shortbread-ish Almond like cookie, and can be used in So many different ways! For these Sundae Cookies, I even added a dash of Nutmeg to give them a Vanilla Bean, ice creamy look, but the flavor it added was incredible! Then, when they’re topped with that Chocolaty Magic Shell crunch, a sprinkling of sprinkles & a candy “Cherry” on top, fooling a bunch of adults kiddos, couldn’t be sweeter or easier!
What you’ll need for a plate full of delicious & deceptive delights:
1 Cup of Butter (softened)
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
1 Egg
1 tsp.Almond Extract
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
2 2/3 Cups Flour
Dash of Nutmeg
Chocolate Magic Shell
Sprinkles
Red Hots..or similar
A small cookie scoop
Directions:
In a large bowl mix together the butter, sugar, egg, nutmeg and extracts.
In batches stir in the flour, blending well.
Scoop the dough so it looks like ice cream and place each scoop onto a baking sheet…
Bake them for about 12 minutes, or until they firm up and get slightly golden in color..let them cool.
Freeze them for at least 30 minutes..longer is just fine too!
Drizzle the COLD cookies with some Magic Shell, and top them with the Sundae Toppings..(The Magic Shell cookies will start to get melty if they sit out for too long..so store them in the fridge/freezer!)
Serve them up cold, with some spoons for fun, and listen for Ooo’s & Ahhh’s! These are the best party cookie EVER!
Sure to be your new cookie favorite! ~Enjoy! 🙂
SUCH a cool idea!!!!
I’m not a huge ice cream lover either, but these cookies look super yummy!
Such fun cookies
These look absolutely adorable… you had me fooled!!
Can you do this idea with a whipped shortbread recipe?
There isn’t an amount for the flour?
