It started out as a typical “Sandwich Night” at my house, a.k.a..”Fix whatever the heck you want, cuz I’m tired night!” And ended up being the perfect opportunity to use up all those straggler sandwich supplies just hanging around in the fridge! 🙂
Even though this meant that “fix whatever you want” turned into me doing all the fixing, it was so easy that it was almost like I did nothing..haha! But the payoff was huge, how often does that happen?!
~These Sammies are so tasty, ooey and cheesy gooey, with a Mustard crusted bottom that takes each bite over the top!
I highly recommend making simple and yummy a batch of these ooey-gooey Sammies the next time you need a quick dinner fix!
What you’ll need for 6 super sized Sammies (feel free to modify these ingredients to meet your likes/needs):
8 oz. Sliced Swiss Cheese
1 lb. Sliced Ham
2 cups Shredded Mozzarella
1/4 cup Mustard..or to taste
12 slices of thick and good bread (I used buttered Texas Toast)
An oven -safe casserole dish
Directions:
Spread the Mustard in the bottom of the Casserole pan…
Layer your Sammies with the Cheese and Ham evenly so they all get the same amount, place the other slce of Bread on top…
Top the whole shebang with the Shredded Cheese…
And into the oven it goes at 350 degrees for approx. 25 minutes, or until they are golden and gooey…
Make sure to share while they’re good and hot…
These are “Plate” Sammies, not “Hand” Sammies..lol
Unless, of course…you’re alone! ~Enjoy! 🙂
Looks so yummy I want it for breakfast
I’ve been secretly adoring, drooling, sharing on FB and Pinning your recipes for weeks now. I just have to tell you, I appreciate that you buy a lot of your ingredients from Walmart (so I know where to buy them for cheaper $) and, everything you make is so easy and mouth watering that I can barely stand it!! LOL! You are officially my FAVORITE food pinner!!! (I refuse to get fat, I refuse to get fat! hahaha)
great picnic idea !
Making these now!
THESE ARE AWWWWWSOME!!!
These are fantastic!!! I’ve even made this and served it for breakfast… I just fry an egg and place it on top of the sandwich! YUM< YUM!!!
I will be using this soon but I was just thinking–what a great way to use the leftover Christmas or Easter Ham.
Ooh, such a good idea. I always have leftover ham. I bet it would be good with leftover turkey to.
I want to make these! Can I substitute Mayo for Mustard? My hubby doesn’t like Mustard :-/
I just made these and they were incredible but my bottoms were a little soggy. Any suggestions? I want to try it again because it was so good, but did you get a crusty bottom? I used a pyrex dish to bake in… did you use metal? Also I see from the pics you used Walmart texas toast. Was that from the frozen section? Thanks so much!
It wasn’t frozen..just from the bakery section. My bottoms got crispy. Make sure not to use too much mustard. :). Happy you enjoyed them!
I am making them right now. My walmart didn’t have any texas toast in the bakery section, so i bought the frozen kind and let it thaw out a little. hope it’s as good!!
How did the frozen work out for you? I was thinking of doing the same thing. Thx!
These are so easy to make and taste is phenomanal! Hubby loved, he thought marinara for dipping was all that would have made it better! Thank you!
Should I use a metal or glass dish? I’m worried that bottom won’t get crispy. :p
can it be done in less than 25 mins without getting burnt ?
I loved these! I’m using the same method to make tuna melts now! Thanks for sharing!
These look amazing!!! Happy to have discovered your blog;)
Looks So yummii :)) I will try it soon
Someone asked about using mayo instead of mustard??? We don’t like mustard either. WON’T buy from Walmart… will find somewhere else to buy ingredients. 😉
What is the seasoning you have on your Texas Toast? It looks like garlic toast? Looks so so so good!
It was store bought, pre buttered toast…I think some dried parsley.
