This is one of those~’Why not’ recipes! I seem to have lots of those, don’t I?..lol!
But really…if there were any way to improve on a PB&J Sandwich…frying it would be the only way, right?! And by frying it, I mean..slathering it up with 2 layers of Peanut Butter & Jelly, and then dipping it in good old “Bennigan’s authentic recipe” Monte Cristo Batter!
Upgrade that typical PB&J and getchasome of this insane, sky-high PB&J goodness~ trust me! 🙂
What you’ll need:
Bread
Peanut Butter
Jelly
Bennigan’s Monte Cristo Batter> only THE BEST BATTER KNOWN TO MANKIND (Makes enough Batter for at least 2 double decker PB&J’s):
1 Egg
1 1/2 cups Flour
1 & 1/4 cup Water
1 tbsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
Powdered Sugar for that classic Monte dusting.
Oil for frying~I used Canola
A shallow fry pan
Directions:
Make your PB&J as normal~Feel free to cause your loved ones to be concerned by stacking them like I did…lol
Now mix together all of the Batter ingredients together until smooth.
Dip that PB&J in the Batter..coat that sucker good!
Fry it up in the hot oil (about 2″), making sure that all sides get good and golden~
Let it cool and then let it snow…
Slice into that warm, drippy, crispy succulent sandwich and try not to moan too loudly…
Prepare your lips! ~Enjoy! 🙂
We used to have a Bennigan’s in San Diego, but they closed it, I miss those Monte Cristo Sandwiches I only went there for those, wouldn’t eat anything else there. Your PBJ looks WOW
I’ve yet to have a Monte Cristo…what’s wrong with me?!?
