Are you ready for an addiction like no other? Can you say no when all you want to do is say yes? If not..you may want to turn away! One bite of this ‘Crack’ and before you know it, you’re literally staying up late to eat it, denying your cravings to all who love you and making excuses for your sticky fingers!
YES~I’m warning you, this crack should be illegal! But it’s not!
It’s totally up to you to make sure that you only have a couple of pieces, to know when to stop and enforce personal limits. I suggest a friend on speed-dial that will talk you off of the Bacon Crack ledge at a moment’s notice! 🙂
The allure starts even before it’s done cooking, The smell of that sweet bacon and buttery Crescent dough hypnotizes you, and before you know it you’re consuming every last flaky, bacon, sweet & spicy, chewy yet candied bite! This snack is like NO other!
Talk about game day treats, you will be the MVP>> of the world..lol! 🙂
What you’ll need:
1 container of Pillsbury Crescent Dough Sheet..or regular Crescent Dough
1 lb. Bacon..semi-crispy. I use the microwave on high approx. 6-8 minutes, but definitely watch over it.
1 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Maple Syrup, may vary…just use a light layer onto the Dough, and then a light layer onto the top of the Bacon…that’s it! 🙂
1 pinch of Cayenne Pepper..optional, but AMAZING!
Directions:
Lay out the dough spread out thinly, on a parchment lined baking sheet. With a fork, gently poke shallow holes throughout the dough…
Top the dough with a thin layer of Maple Syrup, and all the crispy Bacon. Now add another thin layer of the Syrup onto the Bacon and cover it with all of the Brown Sugar/Cayenne Pepper mix.
Bake it at 325 degrees for about 25 minutes or until evenly golden…
Peek in on it now and then so it feels loved…
Let it cool for at least 15 minutes, it will crisp up as it cools…
Now get to cracking that sweet slab of succulent satisfaction..lol! Use a knife to gently cut it into pieces!
Plate it up…
Pass it around…
Feel all the love that everyone suddenly has for you…
I mean, you are now the ISH!
So grab some for you too….haha! ~Enjoy! 🙂
You had me right up to the point where you said “Pass it around”. Sharing it is asking a lot from a bacon addict!
I ran across this online so had to try it… first i emailed it to my mom, she called and said her’s was a gooey mess. I kept my fingers crossed and tried mine tonight to possibly take to the Super Bowl party tomorrow…
was a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME…. and not to mention bacon. I’m sorry, but this is just not what it’s hyped up to be. I may give it a try again but tweak it myself a little later… maybe.
I don’t know what could’ve possibly gone wrong. Did you watch my video and see how it comes together? Did you use too much Syrup? If you use a thin layer of syrup and make sure to poke shallow holes in the dough, it should do what mine did. Hope you try again! 🙂
Amy,
I made Bacon Crack for the Super Bowl and it was the hit of the night. Our team may have had a bad night, but the food was kicking. I went exactly by your directions and my first batch was perfect. I think the key is like you said to press shallow holes and to brush on thin layer of syrup twice. Thanks again for posting your recipe and your video. We will be making this again soon as football season starts up again. 🙂
Yes~~that’s the key..the thin Syrup layers and the hole poking..lol! SO happy you enjoyed it! 🙂
are we using real maple syrup or pancake syrup?
I used pancake syrup.
I made this tonight and agree with the posts about the crescent dough never crisping. BUT, I also lined a cookie sheet w/ parchment paper and used Club crackers instead of the dough. All same other ingredients and it’s FANTASTIC and crispy this way! Try it!
Love the cracker idea for those who might have trouble with the dough~ thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
Love it !
I have these in the oven right now and im sure hoping they turn out. First of all don’t have your husband get the ingredients he bought the cheapest bacon along with cheapest paper towels and naturally he had to buy the wrong cresent rolls along with the can that wouldn’t pop open. The first batch of bacon I cooked for 7 minutes and when it was done totally stuck to the paper towels..I also didn’t have parchment paper so im hoping the Pam spray works. The 2nd batch with only 4 pieces left I cooked for 4 mins and that to was sticking to the towels and the wax paper on the bottom..He bought the round crescent rolls but I made it work, it will be a small batch but im hoping that it turns out well in the end..let ya know.
Made this 2 times both times the taste was awesomeness!! But the first time I made it it didn’t come out crispy. The taste was good, so I trued again. This time I pre-baked the crescent base for about 7-8mins took out of the oven, added the syrup, bacon, and brown sugar added a pinch of cinnamon and cayenne to it and it came out perfectly crispy. This is a definite keeper!!
Have not tried to make this phenomenal sounding recipe but, read through all the comments. Instead of pouring the syrup, why not use a pastry brush to brush on the first layer then daub on the second layer for more control. I can pour worth a d— as I always g blotches, rivers or lakes of liquids. lol Will try this very soon. I always cook bacon on a rack in a cookie sheet with sides in the oven at 350 degrees F. What is it about bacon????
This is making me think…a pecan pie with bacon might be very, very good 🙂
OMG~~YES!!!
This was delicious!!!
Still no way to print off just the recipe with all the pictures. A waste of paper!
Hi Bev 🙂
From the print/PDF page simply check the box at the top that says “remove images” from there you can even delete any text you don’t want or need. Hope that helps!
Hey there I’ve made this several times and I found that if you blind bake the dough just for a few minutes then add the remaining ingredients it turns out perfect. Big hit even with sugar free brown sugar and maple syrup for my diabetic father.
This worked for me! I also removed from foil and Pan and cooked on a rack. Yummy!
Yay! SO happy to hear that! 🙂
I was skeptical about the description of this treat before I made it. Now I totally agree….it’s addictive!
In the oven now….can’t wait. Keep the good things coming!!!
I did it twice already and I must admit – it’s amazing! I bake the bacon instead of microwaving it – that way the oven is already hot and I like the baked one more 🙂 But it is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
