I did it~ I’ve taken one of my all-time my favorite desserts and made it HUGE! Not only is it huge, but what used to be super labor intensive is now super simple. And that’s exactly what I need in order to combine great flavors with great impressions…simple, easy and totally tasty!
This cake is a show-stopper and will have everyone’s attention the second you start torching it. Make it part of the ‘entertainment’ and crack through that sweet sugar shell right at the table. Once you slice into the creamy, moist cake, you’ll be lucky to have any left for you! 🙂
What you’ll need:
**DISREGARD THE FROSTING in the pic~! I didn’t end up using it! 🙂 **
1 box of White Cake Mix
2 cups of prepared Vanilla Pudding
2 cups Sugar
A round cake pan~~for that authentic Creme Brulee look
A torch
Directions:
Bake the Cake according to the box instructions…
Let it cool and poke holes evenly through the top of the cake with a fork…
Make the Pudding…nice and thick!
Cover it with the Vanilla Pudding…kind of gently filling up all the holes the best you can. It won’t all go in there and that’s ok!
Top the Pudding with the Sugar…
Torch that baby good. You want an evenly golden sweet Sugar Shell…
Crack through that that sugary, creamy moist Creme Brulee CAKE!
Take the BEST bite EVER! ~Enjoy! 🙂
This is brillant! I can’t wait to try this ,creme brulee is one of my favorites but seems intimidating to make but this looks easy and yummy.
this looks amazing! I can’t wait to try this!!
My dad loves any and all variations of a caramel custard..
So for his birthday I did something very similar..
The only exception was that made a more ‘liquid’ pudding so that the die of plenty drinks it up..it was a super combination more like a brûlée tres leche
Subsequently also poured the caramel into the bottom of the cake an and thn baked the cake combining Te pudding mix in the batter..and inverted I like an upside own to serve! This was even better!
Hope you’re tempted to try these variations some time!
“Torch that baby good.” OMG, I have to LMAO!!! That is hilarious! And if you don’t have a small brulee torch, then a pot of thermite would do the job; sure, the house will likely burn down, but damned if that sugar won’t be burnt properly!! LOL, LOL
🙂
can this cake be made the day before and the day of put the sugar and torch?
can cake be made the day before, put in fridge and the following day put the sugar on top and torch it, also can the sugar be put under the broiler instead of using a torch?
I haven’t tried that, but I think it would be fine. 🙂
