Are you tired of messy, gooey Pizza getting in the way of your remote clenching couch time? You know, Pizza that requires two hands and a stack of napkins just to get it into your mouth without making a scene? Do you wish that you could enjoy your Pizza in a white shirt, while still having a hand free to cheer on that team of yours?
~Well, if you answered yes to any of those questions, here’s your tasty solution.
Flaky & cheesy Pizza filled Pie Crust is baked into easy-to-enjoy ‘Fries’ that will get passed around your coffee table on game day, faster than frustration and bad football jokes~ 😉
~Make up a giant batch of these sensational snacks and consider yourself the MVP of your home team!
What you’ll need:
1 container of Pillsbury Pie Crusts (2 per box)
1/2 cup of Marinara for the filling…and some reserved for dipping
1/2 cup Shredded Mozzarella
Pepperoni slices, enough to cover the crust..and/or any other Pizza fillings you’d like
Grated Parmesan for dusting the top
1 tsp. Olive Oil
Oregano and/or any other spices you’d like
Directions:
Roll out the Pie Crusts.
Spread the bottom crust with the Marinara…
Add the Pepperoni, and/or fillings of your choice…
Add the Cheese…
Put on the top crust and brush on the Olive Oil, Parmesan Cheese, and some Oregano…
Slice it into “fries” about 1/2″ in width…
…and then one slice across to create 3-4″ “fries” in length…
Place them onto a baking sheet and bake them at 350 degrees for approx. 30 minutes OR until they’re firm and slightly golden…
If the Cheese leaks a little (which it will) Don’t panic, simply scoot it back where it belongs the best that you can. As they cool those leaky edges will be the winning bites! 🙂
Serve them warm with some Marinara for dipping…
Make sure to share, there’s plenty to go around..lol
BUT, grab some for you first..don’t be crazy! ~Enjoy! 🙂
You are the star of my Super Bowl party!, Thanks
Why not just cut them after baking all u r making is a stuffed pizza w top n bottom crust
Stuffed Pizza has Pizza Dough~ And if you cut these after they’ve baked, the flaky crust would just crack up. 🙂
I have to rave about these “fries.” I made these for a baby shower that I threw for a friend of mine. Everyone loved them! I love how easy it was to make. I cut the pizza into strips but did not separate them before baking them. They came out perfect. I cut again after they baked and moved them easily to my serving plate. My husband kept stealing them throughout the party. I will be making these again for sure!
Woohoo..yay! So happy they were a hit! 🙂
Good idea
These look so awesome and I’d love to try them, but unfortunately Australia doesn’t seem to have Pillsbury pie crusts. Do you know what a good alternative would be? What exactly is Pillsbury crust? Is it some kind of savoury puff pastry, or a shortcrust pastry, or something else?
Thanks in advance!
Jess: they’re just pie crusts you can make it from scratch or probably buy a pre made one at the grocery store. it’s usually just vegetable shortening, flour water maybe a little sugar and cold water.
Don’t forget the cold butter. here is a recipe i use for homemade when I am actually in the mood to NOT go all out lazy lol
Butter Flaky Pie Crust
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, chilled and diced
1/4 cup ice water
Directions
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
Roll dough out to fit a 9 inch pie plate. Place crust in pie plate. Press the dough evenly into the bottom and sides of the pie plate.
Hi Jess
It’s shortcrust pastry, not puff. So just use Pampas shortcrust (or whatever brand you like).
Methinks if you don’t have Pillsbury Pie Crusts in Australia Mate you can just use Puff Pastry, too bad yinz don’t have a Walmarts, they have almost identical brand named stuff under their “Great Value” Walmart brand. Instead of marinara I think I would try Contandina Pizza Sauce, I prefer that on my homemade calzones, but the question I have is, is the dipping sauce hot or room temperature? Seems like sauce out of can should be cooked, I haven’t tried these yet but will gather the ingredients next time I shop. Looks yummy!
As an afterthought it might be better to chop up the pepperoni into quarters before adding instead of having to try and cut through it, no?
