I’m SO in love with pull-aparts!  They’re super easy to eat, perfectly pretty little pop in your mouth treats.  And the possibilities are endless!  You can do sweet, savory, full meal, or simple appetizer and everyone is always happy..yay!

This time, I wanted to take the basic pull-apart one step further with one of my all-time favorite flavors~  French Onion! OMGosh~  I adore all things french onion, the soup, the dip, the umm..onions..lol!  SO..this was just a no-brainer for me!  And WOW..did it ever work out!

This ended up being one of the most impressive and most requested recipes that I’ve ever served!  This simple treat turned well mannered, well dressed, super composed people, into dribbling, drooling, cheesy chinned, appetizer animals.  🙂

Each warm, gooey, swiss cheese, caramelized onion-filled, buttery bite of these pull-aparts, is like eating an entire bowl of the best french onion soup in. the. world!  Minus the spoon, bowl and slurping..well, there may have been a little slurping..lol!

~You need to whip this up the next time you need a unique and out of this world little snack!  EVERYONE will love it and if they don’t..point at them and laugh! 🙂

What you’ll need:

1 can pillsbury crusty french bread

4 oz. swiss cheese

2 small OR 1 medium onion..thinly sliced

1 packet of onion soup mix

1 tbsp. butter…melted

1 tbsp. parsley flakes

2 tbsp. olive oil

Directions:

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place the dough onto the pan, cover it and set it aside while the oven pre-heats to 350 degrees…

Slice up the onions in approx. 1/8″ slices…

Slice the cheese into 1″ (or so) squares…

Bake the french bread for about 20 minutes, or until it’s fully cooked and golden.  Let it cool completely!

In a large pan, drizzle some olive oil and sautee the onions, just until they’re transparent.  Sprinkle the onion soup packet into the onions, stir to combine and take it off of the heat…

Brush the cooled french bread with the butter…

Sprinkle the top with some Parsley…

Cut 1″ slices crosswise and three-fourths of the way down into the bread, making sure not to cut all the way through to the bottom.

Gently spread each slit open and add some of the onions…

Insert 1 square of cheese into each slit…

Place it back into the 350 degree oven for approx. 5-10 minutes, or just until the cheese gets irresistibly gooey, and you just can’t take it anymore, like this…

Serve it up and don’t forget to pull apart a piece for YOU!  ~Enjoy!  🙂
