If you can imagine your favorite, comforting bowl of oatmeal, suspended inside a tender, warm and gooey doughnut, dripping in thick cascades of maple glaze..then you’re on your way to understanding just what a game changer this is to our “most important meal of the day”!
~You will never look at Oatmeal or Doughnuts the same way again, this changes everything! Good Morning to US!
What you’ll need:
1 1/2 cups of cooked oatmeal
1 cup self rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. maple syrup
a doughnut pan
The Glaze:
one cup powdered sugar
a few splashes of maple syrup, until thick
Directions:
In a medium/large bowl combine the oatmeal, flour, cinnamon and syrup…mix well!
Fill up the sprayed doughnut pan just barely to the top…
Bake at 350 for approx. 15 minutes, or until the doughnuts are puffed and firm.
Make the maple glaze > simply mix the powdered sugar with the syrup and set aside…
Let them cool…
They will pop right out…
Now, glaze them up and let them set up, unless you don’t mind glazed and gooey fingers…
Now, serve those magnificent morning doughnuts…
There’s plenty to go around…
If you can resist…
And not eat them all yourself! 🙂 ~Enjoy!
These make my mouth water! I don’t have a donut pan, do you supposed with a bit of extra baking they would work in a cupcake pan?
YES…yummy! 🙂
If I wanted to plunge deeply into to world of delicious but unhealthy, could one perhaps fry these like traditional fried cake donuts?
Put whole wheat instead of white, and you might be doing a little better, I have to say, you do use the best ingredients like your brand of pancake mix, you used in a recipe, the oatmeal you choose, real maple syrup. I bought a donut pan, maybe I’ll try these, with out the sugar on top, and with a better choice of flour. Now, if you were to fry up some bacon, dry it with paper towel, mince it up and put some in this batter, I think it would be pretty tasty. Since these weren’t fried already. OMG, you did make fried donuts, I just noticed, well at least you made both.
