Sometimes you just need want to wrap everything in bacon, fry it up, plop down on the couch with Netfilx and call it a day..right?!….RIGHT!
That kind of day was the inspiration for this little snack, and by ‘little snack’, I mean..uh, not little at all..haha! There’s really nothing small about bacon or cheese, especially when you put them together and uhhh..fry them, but sometimes you just have to do it!
~And I did.
Each melty mozzarella stick is perfectly balanced with the smoky, crispy bacon that hugs it like it’s never going to let it go. 🙂
~Make a big batch of these babies and get that remote ready~ : )
What you’ll need:
1 lb. bacon..2 slices per mozzarella stick!
approx. 6 mozzarella cheese sticks
oil for frying..I used Canola
toothpicks
Ranch for dipping…or any dippers you’d like!
Directions:
The first thing you need to do is FREEZE the CHEESE. 🙂 At least for a few hours!
Lay out a slice of bacon, and place a frozen cheese stick onto it..pulling up the bacon ends to cover each end of the cheese…
Now wrap another slice of bacon around the cheese stick, using it to secure the first bacon slice. Use a toothpick to secure the bacon while frying!
Fry them up in hot (350 degree) oil, until they’re crispy and golden, let them cool on some paper towel.
Serve them with some ranch for dipping! And DIG IN! ~Enjoy!! 🙂
I’m going to try them using Jalapeno mozzarella sticks. And ranch for dipping.
yum yum that sounds good I will have to try that
I tried it and it didn’t work right.the bacon wasn’t cooking on the in side
Try syrup for dipping sauce ????
Make them in the oven. Much easier
Why do you need the oil? Wouldn’t pan frying them in the bacon fat be sufficient? Canola oil is actually bad for you, the good parts were taken out during processing that oil
If you try pan frying ..the cheese will most likely melt all over your pan..LONG before your bacon is crispy. You can use another high temp oil if you’d like.
I am pretty clumsy so I avoid deep frying almost anything. The smell almost always chases my kiddos and spouse out of the house anyway. Could I broil them successfully?
I am a little confused. Your recipe instructions say to fry them but here you are saying that if you fry them the cheese will melt all over the pan.
I tried these and they didn’t turn out at all. It was a great idea but the bacon really over powers the cheese and you can’t taste anything but the bacon. So you might as well just eat bacon and save yourself the trouble.
Use good mozzarella 🙂
for extra flavor you can use pepper jack cheese
I have in the past made Pretzel rods wrapped in bacon & rolled in Parmesan. I might try these then roll in Parmesan after frying!
I should have used a cheaper thinner (Oscar Meyer) bacon. Do not use the expensive thick cut (Boars Head or Trader Joe’s) bacon.
Lol…I almost choked on the abundance of bacon!
