Have you ever caught yourself staring blankly at a beautiful bag of potato chips, thinking any of these thoughts to yourself:

“hmm.. what can I do with those to make them even worse for me than they already are?”  

“they just aren’t fattening enough!”  

“I’d like to eat them and feel even more self-hate than I already do.”

I just want to be permanently disgusted with myself!”

Have you had any of those thoughts? Even one of them?  .. No,  you  say?!  Well, guess what? I have.. and what you’re seeing here is the sad delicious result!  

Brace yourself.

I give to you, a perfect pile of beautifully bruleed, sweet, salty, crunchy, potato chips!  

Yeah~ That’s right! .. I’m talking about everything we know and adore about traditional creme brulee, all incorporated into the most popular snack food in the world.. Good old potato chips!  MMhmm!

Each chip is gloriously sugar-coated.. (much like the lies we tell ourselves before we eat the whole bag) , then torched until that classic bruleed sugar deliciousness is in full force..  

AND then they’re plunged DEEP into a thick, rich, vanilla ‘custard’ dip.. just to drive that authentic creme brulee brilliance right into your mouth via the crispiest, crunchiest, most delectable chip you’ve ever had!  These babies are a salty/sweet lovers’ dream come true!

Turn your 2 star chips, into a 5 star dessert…  

~Make LOTS!

What you’ll need:

Potato Chips~  I used Ruffles for their Rrridges (they’re sturdy enough and hold that sugar perfectly)

Sugar .. approx. 1 cup or so

Vanilla instant pudding.. a.k.a. custard dip

A torch

Directions:

Place a single chip onto a fire-safe surface.. I used a round cookie sheet.  *You want to torch each chip all alone, cuz the flame tends to travel and will burn the chip next to it.

Sprinkle the top of the chip evenly with sugar…

Now gently torch that sugar until it’s an amber color.. as evenly as you can, but they don’t have to be perfect to be amazing!

Let them cool, and they will crisp up!

Prepare the pudding according to your box instructions.

Serve them with the custard dip…

Listen as the chatter in the room turns into silence, when you serve these!

..all you’ll hear is crunching, with “Mmm’s”  and “OMG’s” in between!  ~Enjoy! 🙂
