Okay, fine.. I’ll admit that I’m on some sort of weird Hot Cheetos kick right now, which is so strange for me since I’ve never been a huge fan of these things..lol. Oh, trust me..I like a good old Cheeto as much as the next guy girl, but I’m more inclined to plow through an entire bag of the original, basic cheesy Cheetos of the non-spicy variety than these hot babies.
That being said, somehow I was able to think up this wacky wonder of a meal.. while I was, as usual.. uhhmm..completely sober! I swear!
And did this idea ever work?! There’s just something about the spicy cheetos, and the creamy, meaty, noodle layered lasagna that just works. like for real! The flavors are perfectly balanced and the WOW factor is completely off the charts!
I mean.. come on, just look at this thing~
I kept the traditional lasagna flavors that we all know and love, while simply adding the whimsical flare of these beautifully bright, flamin’ hot cheetos into the magnificent mix.
~This dish is fun enough for the kids, and delicious enough to bring a smile to the adults as well!
Do it.. if only once, just do it! Go on.. Goooo! 🙂
What you’ll need:
An 8x12x3:deep oven-safe dish.. a 9×13 will work as well
1 large bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos PUFFS
1 lb lasagna noodles, boiled and cooled
1 lb lean ground beef
1.5 cups of creamy cheddar pasta sauce.. PREGO for example
1 cup ricotta cheese
8 oz. shredded monterey jack cheese
8 slices of provolone cheese
1 egg
A food processor
Directions:
Crush up the bag of Cheetos in a food processor…
Until they’re fine crumbs… (RESERVE ONE CUP OF THE CRUMBS AND SET ASIDE SEPARATELY FOR THE TOPPING!)
Boil up the noodles…
Lay them on a sheet pan with some olive oil to cool…
Cook up the meat, and add in the cheese sauce…
Mix the ricotta and the egg until well blended…
Now start layering..
..add a little of the cheese sauce to the bottom of the dish…
Then an even layer of the noodles, then some of the meat mixture, then some shredded cheese & some provolone slices, then a layer of the Cheetos crumbs, then noodles, then some of the ricotta mixture.. repeat those layers until you’re able to top it with the remaining provolone slices…
Bake at 350 degrees for approx. 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melty and golden and it’s hot all the way through.
Sprinkle the top with the reserved crushed cheetos!
And serve it up nice and HOT…
Dig in and taste the craziest and most deliciously HOT lasagna you’ve ever had! ~Enjoy! 🙂
